The Southlake Women’s Club is proud to announce our 2011-2012 Member of the Year, Monica Mainard.
Monica was raised in Lafayette, Indiana, but after graduating high school, she followed a boyfriend to Dallas. At 23, she decided she wanted to go to college and moved to Denton to attend NTSU (as it was known back then).
Monica worked part-time for the very first Apple dealer in the state of Texas, Applied Data Systems. In 1985, her sophomore year, she was hired by Apple Computer and moved back to Dallas. She married her husband Mike in June 1986 and has just celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary.
After working for Apple for 6.5 yrs, Monica left to be a stay-at-home mom. She and Mike are blessed with three children: Makenzie (20 yrs), Kendall (18), and Preston (10). Today, Monica has her own business with Willow House and – never to be idle! – she also works part time at Nordstrom Rack.
The Mainards have lived in Southlake since the summer of 1999. Monica joined the SWC in May 2008 after fellow member Carmen Evans asked her to help at Art in the Square. She worked the wine tent, Art Off The Vine, with another long-term member, Sherri Whitt, and after those 3 days, she was hooked!
The 2011-2012 year will be Monica’s 3rd on the board as chair of Club Support. She has also served on the Programs committee for 3 years. Monica truly loves the Southlake Women’s Club, and we are blessed to have her as a part of our group. Thank you, Monica, for all that you do!
